The garden design used sharp clean lines that are softened through construction, using natural materials and perennial borders.
A contemporary garden to match a contemporary house in the heart of Exeter in St Leonards. The large limestone patio provides a secluded seating area close to the house. The square lawn sweeps from the patio down to the garage steps creating a spacious impression with room for play and recreation. Set in the lawn is paving down to the hidden fire pit area with contemporary floating benches surrounded by a thick Yew hedge providing privacy and seclusion.
Each side of the formal lawn are boarders. On one side a pleached beech hedge giving privacy and under planted with a long boarder of Lavender providing a sweet scent when brushed against.
On the other boarder are striking sculptural Oaks pointing to the sky, set against an old Roman wall, and beneath them are large Box spheres continuing the cohesive formality. Perennials come to life in a cool colour scheme to enhance the garden with white and blue during the Spring and Summer, but with such a strong formal structure the garden looks amazing through Winter as well.
